National Poetry Month!!!

“His wit consisted in discovering droll connexions
between incongruous ideas…”
………………………- Joeseph Conrad, The Secret Agent

April is National Poetry Month!!! I want to encourage anybody and everybody who might read this entry to submit a short poem via the comment box below. It doesn’t have to be a heart-breaking work of staggering genius. Here’s an early poem of mine own that is a fine example of less-than-mediocrity…

There’s a dog locked in a car
just outside the bar,
telling everyone how ruff! ruff! it is.

Phew! glad that’s over. Here’s another, as yet untitled…

i
waited
for
Tammy Kaiser

at
the
gates
of
the
fair.

summer
fell
like
wormy
fruit.

despite
plans
for
our
date.

she
arrived
with
two
girls.

i
looked
away
into
garbage
cans.

sweet
stink:
hops,
barley,
sour
mash,
coeur
du
nuit.

she
ate
floss
candy
apple
hot
dog
and
puked
by
the
Zipper.

as
Tammy’s
phalanx
disappeared
in
the
crowd

i
watched
a
carny
dog
eat
the

vomit.

  1. born backwards from whirling soup
    tongue plastered with dirt
    and on my underwear
    a grassy stain
    the ceremony of innocence
    drowned
i think we are in for a long yarn
    yawn
there, i spit in your soup!
    breadcrumbs bleeding bees abuzz
she kicked up her hooves and let out a
    “coo”
    cut along the dotted line
and touch your finger to the nose
    of the other
    revolving door
    on high power rotation
    call the knife
    cut the cake
    officially placed behind
    the deviant
    see the pink mouths
    the dead faces rawr
    white cloth may be dyed
    but her cat
    is burned onto the desktop
    making a sound
    with a stick
    on a white picket fence
    embroidered kinky phrases
    between your toes

    (notes from class)
    xx
